Helping You Transform Your Life

What is Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be a very effective way of asking the right kind of internal questions while in a natural, relaxed state to help you make changes in your life. Through simple hypnotic, relaxation techniques you can easily attain this state, at which time it becomes easy, with the help of a trained hypnotherapist to become happier and healthier.

The following is taken from the UK Hypnotherapy Association of which I am a member and gives a much more in depth explanantion:

"Hypnotherapy utilises hypnosis, a state of altered consciousness in which the therapist can help you to access the deeper levels of awareness, to which you are usually oblivious in your normal day-to-day functioning. More often than not, what you are experiencing as a problem, whether emotional, psychological or psychosomatic (i.e. actually producing physical symptoms) is only a surface EFFECT of a deeper underlying mental/emotional CAUSE. It is at these deeper levels of consciousness that we as hypnotherapists work with you, to bring about change in the way you feel, think and behave. A skilled hypnotherapist will always work with your co-operation and in the most caring and nurturing manner. If left untreated, problems can sometimes create a ripple effect into other areas of your life, and what many people find is, on completion of effective hypnotherapy, other problems seem to melt away. Life is what you make it, so why not make it better? Hypnotherapy can improve your life for the better on a daily basis including the way you feel about both yourself and the world around you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!"

How Does It Work?

It is in this trance like state that we can access the sub conscious mind, which can be visualised as the larger part of an iceberg that lies below the surface. It is from this internally focussed place that changes can be made. Through regression, analysis and suggestion, it is possible to make positive changes in your life. Hypnosis is as simple as drifting off into a wonderfully relaxing daydream and we all experience hypnotic states in our day to day life. Have you ever driven your car and forgotten parts of the journey or drifted off whilst reading a book/watching a film? These are examples of the natural state of trance.

What is Involved?

Hypnotherapy is a two way process between you and the therapist, a professional partnership. A person cannot be placed under hypnosis unless he or she agrees and co-operates. You are conscious of the process and aware of everything that is going on. Nobody can make you do anything which you do not want to do.
